The race for the Virginia House of Delegates’ 42nd District seat in Fairfax County is poised to be among the most hotly contested and important of 2017. In anticipation of a highly competitive contest in the November general election, Kathy Tran’s campaign for the House of Delegates is seeking candidates for full- and part-time Organizing and Finance campaign fellowships through the summer.
Organizing and Finance Fellows will have the opportunity to become a part of history by working to elect the first Asian American woman to Virginia state government and turn the 42nd District blue for the first time in nearly 40 years, while learning about the inner-workings of political campaigns. The Organizing and Finance Fellowship program is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
- Previous campaign experience a plus, but not required
- Desire to learn and receive feedback
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and willing to work hard
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
- Strong commitment to the overall goals of the Democratic Party
Conduct donor research for candidate fundraising calls and fundraising events
Solicit contributions by phone, mail, and online outreach
Assist senior staff in communications with donors, fundraisers, and event hosts
Staff fundraising events
Help maintain the campaign donor database and assist with data entry
Assist in other elements of the campaign as needed
Execute field plan in an assigned neighborhood turf
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers
Reach out to voters in-person, over the phone, and through online outreach
Staff organizing events and participate in visibility activities
Help maintain the campaign volunteer and voter databases and assist with data entry
